Air India to function from Unity Buildings, JC Road


Bangalore, Dec. 6:  
Air India is to offer combined booking/reservation facilities for passengers at its main booking office located at Unity Buildings, JC Road in the city, from December 10. Effective the same date, booking/reservation and other facilities will cease to exist from the office at Cauvery Bhavan, KG Road, Bangalore. According to Air India press release, passengers will have the facility of directly booking domestic, international and domestic cum international tickets on sectors operated by Air India as well as the code shared flights with international carriers. Service timing for public transactions at the main booking office: Monday through Saturday: 10 am to 5.30 pm; Lunch break: 1 pm to 1.45 pm. Sunday is holiday. – Our Bureau

NEW JSW STEEL BOARD MEMBER

Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (KSIIDC) has nominated IAS officer P.B. Ramamurthy as its nominee director on the Board of JSW Steel Ltd. Ramamurthy replaces Sandeep Dave on the company’s board, JSW Steel Ltd release to exchanges said. – Our Bureau

MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION CENTRE

M*Modal, a provider of clinical documentation and speech understanding solutions, has announced its expansion of its operations.The company has set up a new medical transcription centre in Mysore. M*Modal plans to grow its presence in the city by creating around 100 new jobs over the next two years in areas as clinical transcription, quality assurance and other support functions. Located at Udaya Ravi Road in Kuvempunagar, the new centre is spread across 5400 square feet. – Our Bureau

NATIONAL AWARD AT NANO MEET

G.U. Kulkarni, professor at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), has been conferred with National Award at the 5th Bangalore Nano meet. C.N.R.Rao, National Research Professor, and Dr K. Kasturirangan, Member (Science), Planning Commission, awarded the 5th Bangalore Nano National Award 2012 to Kulkarni, who has presented several international papers and authored 11 books. GLOBAL AEROSPACE MEET

The Karnataka Department of Commerce and Industry, supported by Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI), Laghu Udyog Bharti, Karnataka Udyog Mitra, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, IMS Foundation, Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, will organise Global Aerospace Industry Meet on December 10 and 11 at Hotel Chancery Pavilion, Residency Road, Bangalore. About 100 aerospace companies from India and overseas are expected to participate in the meet. – Our Bureau

WINTER SCHOOL

A national level refresher course (winter school) on protected cultivation sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organised by Hi-Tech Horticulture Unit, UAS, Dharwad, was held. R R Hanchinal, Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Dharwad, said greenhouse technology is helpful in increasing yield and quality of produce. B.M. Khadi, Director of Research, UAS, Dharwad, stressed upon development of Indigenous hybrids/ varieties of modern flower and vegetables suitable for greenhouse cultivation by the public institutions so that cultivation becomes cost – effective. The Winter School programme will be held for 21 days. In all, 28 participants from 24 institutions representing 15 States are participating in the course.
