A section loaders at
the Chennai airport on Monday resorted to a protest when they were questioned
by an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official.
According to airport
sources, the two loaders of Air India, Jayaprakash and Murugan were standing
near the highly secure aircraft bay no. 28. On seeing them, an AAI official
asked what they were doing there and seized their identity passes.
Agitated, the loaders
called their counterparts in other airlines to the tarmac, where they held a
flash strike for about 40 minutes from 11 a.m. onwards. No luggage was loaded
on to the aircraft then. However, Airport Director, H.S. Suresh diffused the
situation. The loaders then returned to their duties.
