K.N.A.
Kadar, MLA, on Tuesday approached the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to
Air India to reduce the air fare on Gulf sector from Kerala and to evolve a
scientific, rational criterion for fixing the same.
The
petitioner said that the air fare on the Gulf sector was exorbitantly high and
was not based on any scientific criteria or data.
Air
India had not been able to maintain any scientific criteria for fixing air
fares. On different sectors, the company charged different rates in such a way
that they extracted more money from passengers for short-duration journey
whereas they charged less for long hours of journey.
The
conduct of Air India was nothing but extortion of passengers.
The
service offered by Air India on the Gulf sector was far inferior, compared to
that on flights to Europe and other sectors.
402
flights cancelled
Cancellation
of flights, delays, unscientific increase in fare and rude behaviour of crew
had become the order of the day.
In
the last 10 months, as many as 402 services on the Kerala-Gulf sector were
cancelled and cancellation of 112 flight services did not have any valid
reasons.
The
petitioner sought a directive to ensure that there would not be any schedule
cancellation and inordinate delay in flight services.
