Probe ordered into delay in Kozhikode-Jeddah flights

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal said here on Friday that a probe had been ordered into the delay in the Kozhikode - Jeddah services last week.  There were tense situations with the delay at the Kozhikode International Airport. The Minister said that on preliminary investigation it was found that the issue could have been avoided by the Air India officials.
The compensation package for the 18.9 acres of land to be acquired immediately for Thiruvananthapuram Airport development would be worked out by the State Government. Decision will be taken after considering the report of the State Govt, he said.  Visa on arrival facility would be introduced at four airports including Thiruvananthapuram and Nedumbasserry. It is on the final stages and the announcement will be made soon, he said.
On the wagon production factory at Cherthala by Autokast and Silk, Venugopal said that the Railways made some changes in the design. The State Govt had been asked to go ahead with the project and there is no response.  Railways had ensured that they would place orders for the next seven years if the wagon factory is set up by the State Govt.
He said that the Union Govt would take a favourable stand against the neglect of the state in the Railway Budget.
