Hyderabad, Nov. 28:
Air India has set up a new indigenous facility in Hyderabad for
servicing portable oxygen bottles installed on its Airbus aircraft.
This is expected to result in foreign exchange savings to the tune of Rs
80 lakh.
The portable oxygen bottle assembly installed on Airbus A319, enhanced
A320 and A321 types of aircraft require a separate test facility to carry out
servicing and overhaul of their regulator and valve assemblies.
This facility has been set up at the Begumpet engineering hangars of Air
India at a cost of Rs 22 lakhs. Importing of a similar test bench would have
cost at least Rs 1 crore, an AI release said. The Hyderabad facility can now
take up servicing and hydro-static testing of all the crew oxygen bottles and
portable oxygen bottles installed on Air India’s narrow body aircraft fleet,
including Airbus A330.
